Our dermatologists examine your entire skin surface, searching for suspicious growths, moles, and lesions. We consider your complete medical history to identify skin cancer risk factors, and guide treatment recommendations. Some risk factors for skin cancer include:
• Excessive UV (ultra-violet) radiation exposure from the sun
• Family history of skin cancer
• History of sunburn
When diagnosed in its early stages, most skin cancer can be cured. Therefore, early detection of skin cancer is extremely important. If we detect a suspicious growth, mole, rash, or lesion, we may recommend a biopsy. |
In this procedure, a sample of a mole, lesion, or growth is taken and sent to a laboratory for examination to make a diagnosis and guide treatment decisions. |
When surgery is necessary, it can often be performed by our physicians. Our physicians are skilled at removing skin cancers, moles, and many other skin lesions. |
The National Cancer Institute has estimated that more than one million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed in 2008. During your skin check appointment, our providers will discuss with you the best ways to limit your risk of developing skin cancer. |

About 80% of people, between the ages of 11 and 30, suffer from some form of acne. We offer a number of different solutions to treat acne including the prescription of topical medications, oral antibiotics, Accutane, and lasers. We partner with our patients to create a personal treatment plan to help them overcome this challenging skin condition. |
Warts are caused by a viral infection known as human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts are usually small, rough growths that can appear anywhere on the skin surface. Treatments include liquid nitrogen, cantharidin, and laser therapy. |
According to the National Cancer Institute, most people have between ten and forty moles on their body. Each mole has its own growth pattern and the majority of them are benign. However, if a mole begins to change shape, size or color, it should be examined. |
The causes of and treatments for rashes vary. Accurate diagnosis depends on the assessment of the appearance of a rash, any accompanying symptoms, and exposure to substances that can irritate the skin or cause allergies. |
Contact dermatitis is the result of an allergic reaction to substances that come in contact with the skin’s surface. If you are seeking medical attention for dermatitis or eczema, you may be a candidate for patch testing. We are one of a small number of practices in the Boston Metrowest region that offers clinical patch testing. |

MOHS micrographic surgery is a highly effective technique for removing skin cancers. MOHS surgery not only offers the highest potential cure rate, but it also offers superior cosmetic results as well. The procedure is especially appropriate for lesions located on the face and neck, and is performed with the greatest preservation of healthy tissue, thereby minimizing scarring. |
